New Bridge Project
Taking Newcastle to new heights
The New Bridge Project seeks to completely transform an important piece of Newcastle city centre. A new mixed-use building will replace the former hotel building and car park and a new public space will extend the public realm of New Bridge Street West.
Better pedestrian links and a new gateway to the historic Market Street will all contribute to a significant improvement in the local streetscape and a continuation of public realm works linked to the new HMRC development, Blackett Street and Northumberland Street improvements.
The design proposes a new sky-scraping residential building, providing 185 new homes and a new 150-bedroom hotel is also included, both acting as catalysts for new restaurants and bars to activate a new public realm and landscape.
The 37-storey luxury residential tower will create an important new landmark for the eastern fringe of Newcastle’s city centre.
Led by Gainford Group, which owns and operates The Vermont Hotel, The County Hotel and a number of bars and restaurants including Avieka and Livello, the New Bridge Project represents a strategic investment in Newcastle’s world-renowned leisure and hospitality offer.
Gainford Group is looking for a range of partners to deliver its vision for New Bridge Project, including developers interested in co-investment opportunities for what is one of the UK’s most exciting high-rise schemes.
