Forth Goods Yard

A highline to opportunity

Forth Goods Yard is the first part of the Forth Yards regeneration area covering the land adjacent to Newcastle Central Station and providing a significant opportunity to deliver enhanced connectivity and public realm.

Led by BlockWork, a joint venture between Network Rail and Bloc, Forth Goods Yard will revitalise a parcel of derelict land and help make Newcastle Central Station fit for the future.

The scheme is anchored by an ambitious New York-style Highline pedestrian and cycle route, which will bring historic railway infrastructure back to life and promote a shift towards more sustainable active travel and a green public realm.

Serving as a catalyst to unlock the wider Forth Yards site, which is 51 acres of water frontage brownfield land, Forth Goods Yard will deliver circa 550 built-to-rent unite across two development plots alongside a circa 650-space multi-storey-car park (MSCP) on the former rail goods yard, which will connect vertically to Newcastle Central Station via the proposed Highline.

A detailed planning application is being brought forward for submission in Q2 2025, with enabling works and construction proposed to commence Q4 2025.
